Massage Therapy
Deep Tissue
Deep Tissue massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don’t get too uncomfortable.
Swedish
Swedish massage is the technique of applying oil onto the skin and working it smoothly and slowly over the muscles. The amount of pressure used is determined by the client. You can choose a whole body massage or request work on just a specific area such as neck and shoulders. For a whole body massage you are warmly draped at all times except for the area being worked on. The movement of the therapist’s hands pushes all the blood and lymph in the muscle tissues towards the heart and internal organs. This process promotes a replenishing of fresh nutrients to these areas and helps in removing toxins from the body. Decreased pain and tension results from normalized circulation. The release of the body’s own pain killers (endorphins) also occurs. Tight muscles loosen and the nerves calm down. You leave with a feeling of total relaxation.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage – NonSurgical
Manual Lymphatic Drainage is a gentle, specialized therapy that helps encourage the movement of blocked or sluggish lymph fluid. The light, skin stretching technique decongests the lymph nodes and encourages the lymph vessels to work faster and more efficiently to move fluid out of the affected area and reduce swelling. This can be used to address a range of concerns from general wellness and detoxification to seasonal allergies to migraines. Please note that we cannot treat post surgical or lymphedema patients at this time.
