My journey into the world of massage began when I was about eight years old. My father, a factory worker, would often come home complaining of pain in his legs and feet. Not liking to see anyone in pain, I would offer to rub his feet. He never failed to tell me how strong my hands were and one day told me that I should be a masseuse when I grew up. At that time I didn’t know what a masseuse or a massage therapist was, but I did know that I loved being able to help him and found great joy in knowing that my little hands helped to take his pain away.
As I grew older I worked on my friends and other family members whenever they had a nagging ache and began to consider that this was perhaps, my life’s purpose. I began looking into going to massage school, but seemed to never have the time or money to invest in my education.
Fast-forward many years…while working in the advertising field, a co-worker introduced me to Reiki, an energy modality that helps relieve pain and promote healing. After receiving a treatment from her, I began taking classes and became a Reiki Master in 2005. Once I began working on friends and family using Reiki, I realized that serving others in this capacity was, indeed, my life’s path. So, at the age of 38, I enrolled at the Louisville School of Massage in Louisville, KY, graduated in 2007 and became nationally certified and licensed in the Spring of 2008. In the Fall of 2008 I began working full-time as a massage therapist and have enjoyed every moment since. Actually, I don’t consider massage therapy “work.” It is a gift. A vocation. And I look forward to each and every day. In May of 2012, I branched out and started my solo practice at Solace Massage Therapy and in 2017 I welcomed my colleague, Collette Wilson into my practice.
To me, each client is a special individual. I am honored and humbled that they have chosen me to work with them to alleviate their pain. I specialize in deep, therapeutic massage, trigger point work, myofascial release, Craniosacral Therapy and Reiki healing. I have taken many continuing education classes to further explore the different healing modalities which include, Massage for Migraines, Abdominal Massage, and Myofascial Release. I have completed several courses in CranioSacral Therapy through the Upledger Institute as well as the Craniosacral Therapy Alliance.
I have worked with people from all walks of life, with all different situations; mothers-to-be needing pregnancy massage, migraine sufferers, accident victims, people who suffer from chronic pain, fibromyalgia, and those just needing to relax and relieve the day to day stress in their lives.
I am so thankful each day to be doing something that I love to do. I strive to create a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere for each person so that they may receive the best therapy I can offer.
~Peace.
